CHAPTER 55

SATURDAY ~ LEXUS’S PLACE

Lexus’s POV

The week ended so fast and I must admit, it was fun because… We spend over two hours everyday on phone calls. I wonder why Arizona never suspects.

It’s finally the day, we’re about to come out to the public as couples hopefully we don’t get caught by any familiar ones.

I apply ombre lipgloss and stopped after drawing a curvy eye line.

With a heart full of happiness, I catwalk down the stairs and met Mom with her phone in her hands but she wasn’t looking at it and she wore an unusual sad face.

“Mum?”

“Lexus” she masked the sadness quickly with an ironic smile.

“You’re so pretty, I’m so proud of you and I wish I could meet your mysterious boyfriend one day” she smiled.

I told her about the date, Mom and I are so close and I miss telling her my secrets.

“Yeah, one day.. just that, he’s so shy” I covered with enough emphasis on each word.

“Tell him he’s so lucky to have a rare gem like you” she stood up and inched closer.

“Lex.. Things might be though for us in the future but I want you to know we’ll come through, it’s just a phase of life” a tear slid down her face.

Why is suddenly being emotional?

“what’s wrong mom?” I asked. Mom never cried in front of me.

“Your dad called from his place of work, the company laid off 300 workers and advised the rest to resign or their salaries are to be cut by 50 percent.

The company is going bankrupt and that’s the only Workplace that employed him since he’s related to their family… *hiccup* did I ever tell you he didn’t graduate from college?”

“Mom..” I burst into tears.

“My home delivery has been so dry these days, I’ve only got one order in a week” she cried.

“Mommy” I hugged her.

“Don’t ruin your make up hon, you don’t have to worry, we’ll think of a way” she wiped my tears.

“go have fun, who knows what might happen before you come back” she pushed me out the door and locked it.

“Mom, I can go to the date another time” I knocked on the door but she never replied.

For the first time since her concussion crisis, Snow put more effort into looking extra beautiful today.

She was in a pink gown that outlined her petite but cute shape. There was some pink bow on her hair after she ties her hair into two pony. No straight guy can stand such cuteness.

Ocean is her best friend and like a dad to her ever since she lost hers and her mom decided to play the ghost in her life. She knocked on his door before entering.
