The most annoying part is that he doesn’t make a move at all towards me, I’ll always be the one to make the move. If I don’t we can even go months without sex.” Onyabehi said with a sad look on her face.
“I feel sorry for you, I also feel sorry for him. I think the both of you are prisoners of your father’s.” Blessing said. “I’ve a gist for you. I know you’re not going to like it.” She said.
“Why? tell me now. ” Onyabehi insisted.
“No not now maybe I’ll come to your place in the night. It’s about Obekpa.” She said, Onyabehi stopped abruptly on her track.
“What about him? ” she asked, her brows tightened up. “What about him? ” She asked the second time, her lips had gone dry.
“I said I’ll tell you. I have to go and join my mum and prepare Dinner, my father and my brothers went to our yam farm since morning, they’ll be coming home at any time, we need to make dinner before they arrive.” Blessing begged as they hurried into the yard.

“Hey Comfort you came to visit us? Oko showed me the shirt and biscuit you gave him thank you” Blessing’s mother greeted Onyabehi.
“Oh Mama that was nothing, how have you been? ” Onyabehi said as mama Blessing embraced her.
“Give me the boy let me see him. ” she turned to her daughter, Igoche readily followed the woman , who was as fair and slim like her daughter, she looked like Blessing’s elder sister than her mother.
She had four sons , who were all older than blessing, she had a good body structure, and a loving husband who pampered her. “Chaii what are you feeding this boy? ” She asked Onyabehi, the seven months old boy, weighed heavier than a rock, Onyabehi chuckled.
“When is his doctor father going to come and do the proper thing? that one your father did isn’t marriage oh. He needs to come with his people and do the right thing. It’s not only your father that will sit and give out his daughter.” she said.

“He’s going to come mama he’s just busy with work. ” Onyabehi lied, Blessing glared at her in a funny way. Godwin was rushing towards Blessing’s house.
“Mama is back Comfort , she wants to see you and Igoche.” The boy said. He realized that he has not greeted. He shyly greeted Mama Blessing.
“Mama I’ve to go home I’ve not seen my mother, I was told she went to the market let me go and see her now.” Onyabehi said.
“Please come back and see us before you go oh.” Mama Blessing said.
“I’ll ma I promise.” Onyabehi said before she collected Igoche. Godwin collected the boy.
Ajamu embraced her daughter. “Is this your face Comfort? ” she asked Onyabehi, she smiled.

“Mama it’s my face oh. how are you doing mama? ” She asked, the mother and daughter exchanged pleasantries, it had been over a year that they saw face to face, they mostly talked on the phone. Oji had barred his wife from ever going to visit Onyabehi, he said she should allow the girl grow into a woman on her own.
“They’re taking good care of you. Did the doctor come with you? ” Ajuma asked.
“No mama not this time, he’ll join us next time, he was busy at the hospital. ” She said feeding her mother a narrative she had already been fed.
“Your father would be so happy to see you here.” she said. “Let’s go into the house.” Ajuma said.
Onyabehi poured all the stuffs she had brought from Agadagba, she poured them on the floor of the sitting room, she gave brand new wrappers to her mother. She had bought clothes for each one of her four siblings and school bags.
they were all so happy . Onyabehi entered the kitchen and prepared porridge yam, with smoked fish, and crayfish. Her siblings ate until their stomach almost inflated. When they had done eating, at about six P. M Onyabehi told her mother she wanted to go and see Blessing.

Igoche was already sleeping in Ajuma’s room. Blessing brought a long wooden bench under the Gmilena tree, the sun had began to set, it had become orange in colour, it was shinning lazily in the West.
“So tell me about Ubekpa.” She said when Blessing was rigmaroling. “You are telling me gossips I want to hear.” Onyabehi tackled her friend.
“You’re already married, why are you concerning yourself with him? Do you want right marry two husbands? ” Blessing teased her.
“Be serious nah! all the things have been telling you about me and Ogwuche you’re calling his my husband? we are just cohabiting.” She said.
“Cohabiting and you already have a child? ” She asked Onyabehi.
“Will you tell me what brought me here? ” Onyabehi asked with a stern look.

“Obekpa is getting married.” She said, Onyabehi’s skin immediately went white, she felt like falling from the bench. Blessing’s mother who was dragging her goats into her kitchen noticed Onyabehi’s discomfort.
“Are you okay Comfort? ” she asked, Onyabehi couldn’t form a word, she had a lump of cough in her throats, she just nodded, her face staring at her feet, downcasted. “Who is he getting married to? ” She asked.
“He is getting married to Onyale.” Blessing said Onyabehi couldn’t hold back her tears, she wept so much, her long time rival had finally won, all thanks to her father.
She had been dating Obekpa from Senior Secondary school year two. her siblings had told her, he came back to the village and built a new house for his parents, and that he had bought a new car.
She cursed her father in her heart for forcing her into a loveless relationship. She wished she had fought for her love like her elder sister.

For the fear of him breaking her bones she had cowardly walked into his life trap. Blessing couldn’t console her. When they both walked to Onyabehi’s parents house, her father was with a group of men drinking outside.
Onyabehi greeted them all casually, no special greetings for her father, she went into her old room that her siblings had prepared, she cried herself to sleep.
