CHAPTER 117

“Dooshima! Dooshima! Dooshima!” A familiar voice kept calling , Dooshima and Terfa kept checking the columns of the supermarket.
Checking for the owner of the voice , then Mimidoo came into view , she was looking awkward, though she was well dressed , the DSS Official who had followed Dooshima and Terfa to the market, tried to come in between.
“No Psalm let her come .” Dooshima said , Mimidoo embraced Dooshima. She kept staring at Dooshima over .
“Dooshima is this really you? or am I dreaming?” She asked, Dooshima managed to hide the smile that was crawling over her face ,Mimidoo glared at Dooshima from her head to her toes she shook her head in amazement.
“Dooshima God is wonderful, did you go back to your parents house ?” She asked , Dooshima nodded .
“Mimidoo have you moved to Abuja?” Dooshima asked as she embraced Mimidoo ,she felt her bones.
“Dooshima life brought me here oh , it’s truly not been easy .” she said , she glared at Dooshima from her brown high heels shoes, to her Lycra gown , and her full and black virgin hair , she knew her brother her brother had lost a rare gem .
“Oh Dooshima you’re looking good . I am happy for you .” Mimidoo said with a sad voice . “Who is he ? is he your man?” Terfa and the DSS Official strained to hear the whispering conversation of the old friends .
“Yes he’s my fiance , we recently got engaged.” Dooshima flashed her , her diamond encrusted ring . “Enough of me , you’re not looking good Mimi what’s happening?” Dooshima asked .
“Well my dear life has been tough , it has been unfavourable to us, I feel am being superstitious sometimes , when I tell my mother , everything that’s happening to us now is a punishment for all we did to you .” Dooshima smiled .

“No dear you didn’t do anything to me , in fact my life got better when I left Terdue .” Dooshima said .”Please can we enter French Fries , we need to do some catching up .” Dooshima said excitedly. Mimidoo nodded .
“Won’t your companions be offended ?” She whispered, Dooshima smiled .
“No they won’t if I beg them guys please let’s
So how’s mum and Terdue?” Dooshima asked with a smile on her face . Mimidoo couldn’t look at Dooshima’s face . “What’s wrong is he okay ?” Mimidoo shook her head .
“What happened to Terdue ?” She asked her heart beating .
“Terdue is in the hospital ,he’s the reason why we moved to Abuja , he’s been in the hospital… In coma for three months.” Mimidoo forced herself to say .
“Coma what ?” Dooshima gawked , eyes widened in shock. “What happened to him ? was he sick ?” Dooshima asked .

“No , Dooshima he couldn’t forgive himself . for letting you go , especially when he got to know his wife had their first baby for another man .” Mimidoo said with a teary eyes.
“That wasn’t enough , Iyua wasn’t even sorry for what she did , she left the baby with the maid when she was just three months old and went to she her boyfriend in a hotel , Terdue got a hint and followed them there .
It broke into a fight between Terdue and Iyua’s boyfriend, who happened to be the father of the child . , Iyua was not remorseful for what she, she insulted Terdue publicly for showing his stupidity in public , she rushed home and grabbed her child, she and her lover disappeared.” Dooshima’s lips were agap .
“Terdue couldn’t take it anymore , he sent a message to my mum ,long WhatsApp message and told her his blood was on her head .
Mum actually moved all Terdue’s assets to my name , I protested and told her I’ll return them to him , she started preparing papers to move his properties dad had left for him worth one billion naira in Abuja to an orphanage home …”

Paused ,she was visibly uncomfortable, Dooshima stared at her hand as they trembled as she held on to the glass cup with fruit smoothies, she couldn’t make eyes comtact with Dooshima .
“Am sorry Dooshima I was the one who advised Terdue to take mum’s bargain , I regret it everyday , that’s the guilt you see eating me up .”She said , Dooshima took her hands into hers .
“Mimi anyone would do that for someone they love , I really got to love your family , I forgive you all . Terdue is in which hospital?” Dooshima asked .
“He’s at Cedescrest Hospital Apo , he’s on life support , the doctors say his chances are small . He had hung himself , the house girl raised alarm and he was brought down . But it was already late , his brain had been starved of oxygen . He had remained in Coma for a long while . “Mimi said .
“I want to go and see him , can you take me there ?” Dooshima asked ,and Mimi nodded . “Let’s go .” She paid for the bills of the two tables , Terfa and Psalm were sitting a little way from the Dooshima and Mimidoo to give them privacy .

Mimidoo was blown away when she saw the SUV that Dooshima had brought to the mall . Psalm was the one driving ,Terfa sat with him in the front , while Dooshima sat at the back with Mimi. Ten minutes later , they were at the parking lot of Cedarcrest hospital.
It was a four storey building hospital , painted milk brown, Mrs Doowuse was awestruck when she saw Dooshima in her son’s hospital room , she fell to her knees and began to cry .
“Dooshima have mercy on me oh . Dooshima have mercy on me ! ahhaa I robbed myself ,I made a mistake now my son is suffering , Dooshima please forgive me .” She cried , Dooshima asked her to stand up .
She Ventriculostomy Tube, used to feed him oxygen covered his nose , it had a glass mask for his nose , a Vibrating Machine , a Catheter connected to his genitals , to collect urine , then a sphygmomanometer to check his pulse and blood pressure,
were all connected to his body , several cords connected to his body ,Terdue’s eyes were shut tight, Dooshima broke into tears . Terfa and Mimidoo stood aside ,Mrs Doowuse walked to her .

“The doctor said Terdue is brain dead , if the oxygen mask is taken off , Ihe would die ,I don’t want my baby to die .” she sobbed , trembling in tears Dooshima embraced her . “I don’t want my son to die , I forced him , Iyua has killed my son for me .” She and Dooshima cried along .
“Mummy Terdue will not die , God will bring him out for this coma .” Dooshima said , she took a chair near his bed . “Please can I be left alone ?” Dooshima said with a teary eyes , They all left her alone .
“Terdue I know you wronged me , you lied to me , but I have forgiven you , you always wanted me to draw back to God, I started going to church , I went back to my parents house , you are going to work with me .
Lazarus was dead for three God days, his body had began to rot, when Jesus came he said he was just asleep . Terdue you’re asleep , the Bible tells me if I have faith like a grain of mustered seed I can say to this mountain be though removed and be cast to a yonder place , by that authority of Christ I command you , you spirit of death be though removed and be cast out of this body in Jesus name !” Dooshima commanded , she refused to open her eyes , she feared that her prayer may have failed.

The sphygmomanometer began to make loud beeping sounds , Doowuse and Mimi ran into the room , to see what was happening , they saw Terdue blinking his eyes ,Terfa couldn’t believe his eyes , Mrs Doowuse knelt down weeping .
“Dooshima thank you , what did I do that God will favour me like this .”She kept crying .
“Doo-shi-ma .”Terdue called, Dooshima wiped the tears from her eyes and nodded . “Doo-shi-ma am so-rry.”Terdue said after taking the oxygen mask and feeding tube off , Dooshima nodded .
“I’ve forgiven you Terdue , but suicide is never an option ! you’ll die and go to hell .” Dooshima said , Terdue nodded ,he kept apologizing until Dooshima left with Terdue .
Ogwuche had slept over at Makurdi , he slept out at the Benue Link park , the vehicle had left Otukpo at about four P.M they arrived in Makurdi around nine P.M , he found a shop and slept till the next morning , He entered Gboko the next morning at about ten A.M he took an Okada to Dooshima’s house .
