CHAPTER 101

Dooshima sat on the side of mama Amos bed , her eyes locked on the ceiling board , her intertwined fingers resting on her knees , a hot stream of tears falling down her face .
“Dooshima why are you crying ? If Terdue refuse to come back it’s his lost you can take the money and return to your mother , she’ll take care of Shiana while you go to school ,no need to cry over a man .
I thought he had sense but that boy is as foolish as them all.” Mama Amos hissed . Dooshima was just quiet words couldn’t form in her mind .
“What could have made such a nice man change? did you offend him ?” Mama Amos asked innocently .”No mama I didn’t offend him , three months ago he came and spent some days with us, he promised to come back for us mama , one story to another Terdue stopped taking my call .” She said with a teary eyes.
“But Dooshima what really happened between you and Terdue, he isn’t a bad boy from all I know about him , except I was mistaking .

” Mama said soberly , Dooshima played with the thought of telling her what her son had done , she wiped her tears and said it doesn’t worth it , Amos was causing his !other enough trouble already .
“Mama nothing we didn’t have any misunderstanding.” Dooshima said .
“And you said he gave you one million naira ?” Mama asked , Dooshima nodded without saying a word .
“Dooshima you need to take that money to the bank oh , You know we have to take it to the bank . But have you gone to check at his mother’s house to know what could be holding him?” Mama Amos asked Dooshima shook her head .
“Then you have to go there now . ” Mama said . “Don’t cry over men , they’re not your life , men can live you have God he’ll stay , you should better start going to church oh , how long are you going to be angry at for for your own mistake ?” Mama quarreled .
“Apart from Cross Over night do you even go to church ? you’ll sit at home , is either you send Shiana to go with Gift you, you cannot step your leg there ,We can die anytime oh , see one woman she was healthy , she came to market she fell down when they rushed to hospital she had died o.

” Mama said . ” Go to church , one million naira is too much to keep at home this Jankoliko boys can enter and steal it .
“She said Dooshima nodded , she had spent one hundred thousand naira from the money , she had been frugal in her spending she didn’t want to run out of cash .
“What money ? Is it the pay off Terdue gave to you ?” Amos opened the cotton separating the living and bedroom , his mother never knew he was there , she flung her purse at him , it missed him .
“What are you listening to ? common get out of there devil! evil child!” She cursed . Terdue jumped out of the room . Mama’s frail and bony hands held Dooshima’s hand .
“Go and bath and Terdue’s mother house , she will know why her son’s number is not going through , and try to take the money to bank tomorrow.”
She said Dooshima thanked her , she got up from the bed . “Please help me shut the window blind , the sun light is too much.” Mama added , Dooshima did as the old woman said .

Dooshima took her bath and dressed in a royal blue crepe flare gown Terdue had gotten for her and wore a matching shoe , she was waiting for an Okada outside the compound when Amos walked up to her beaming in laughter and shining his thirty two drink stained teeth .
“You think you’re beautiful nobody can touch you ?” He said chuckling . “Now that he has left you has your eyes not clear you ? Give me food to eat you said no , come and marry him let me see , that money is send off Iyua should be pregnant for him already as it is .”
Amos said , Dooshima hissed and climbed on the motorcycle that had stopped for her they drove away .
She stopped outside the gate ,she knocked for over a minute before she heard Mimidoo’s voice . “Dooshima welcome .” She embraced her .
“How are you doing Mimidoo ?” Dooshima asked. Mimidoo hide her face from Dooshima . “Am good Dooshima how’s your daughter ?” She asked .

“My daughter is doing well . Is your mummy in ?” Dooshima asked Mimidoo nodded . “But I think she’s sleeping , please come inside .” Mimidoo said , she was dressed in a sky blue jeans and white polo shirt . Dooshima followed behind her .
“Please let me get you something to drink .” Mimidoo said , after she had shown Dooshima to a couch .
“No need for that Mimi I’m fine , I just came to ask after Terdue for over two months now I’ve not been able to hear from him ,his number isn’t going through.”
Dooshima went straight to the point , Mimidoo began to beat her head with fingers , she was uncomfortable . Her mother arrived on time to save the situation .
