Instagram Users Enraged with Widespread Outage on the Platform

Instagram, the Meta-owned social network, was reported to have experienced a widespread outage. This was following various reports on the random suspension of Instagram accounts. A large number of Instagram users disclosed that they were unable to access their accounts. The difficulty of access has led to a decrease in account followers by some users of the platform.

The official Instagram page on Twitter acknowledged the technical glitch and apologized for the inconvenience stating that they have begun to address the issues.  

“We’re aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account,” Instagram’s communications team said in a tweet. “We’re looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience, ”the post reads.

The issue according to TechCrunch started at about 8:30 a.m. EDT/5:30 a.m. PDT. Over 4000 reports were also said to have been logged on the website. Users denied access to the platform received a message informing them they have a 30-day period to “disagree with this decision” However, Instagram is yet to reveal what users ought to do to rectify this issue.

Some users later disclosed that they were able to regain their accounts after verifying their email and phone numbers. Others are yet unable to resolve the problem. Coupled with the suspended accounts, some users also face difficulties loading the app. This may be resulting of the app update issued by Instagram for iOS. It is however yet to be confirmed as the platform has not disclosed the causes of the issues.
