Dooshima sat uncomfortably on the couch , Terdue was sitting to her right , dressed in a brown packet shirt with a blue jeans , he sat as if he was a stranger to the house.
The “Kprack Kprack” sounds from the sole of Mrs Doowuse’s shoe kissing the tiled staircase announced her arrival , she had a new air around her , the cheerful smile that Dooshima had known to plaster her beautiful face , had travelled to Sambisa forest .
She carried her nose in the air ,as she walked. “Good afternoon ma .” Dooshima greeted Terdue’s mother .
“Good afternoon Dooshima.” She said giving her a sweeping look from head to toes , before she sat down and crossed her legs, like a Mafia boss . “You decided to return him?” She hissed .
“No ma-I didn’t plan to take him from you…” Dooshima explained .
“But you did , for a week my son refused to return home or take my call.” Mrs Doowuse said , Dooshima looked to Terdue for moral support.

“Mum stop pushing the blames to Dooshima, she’s not to blame here am not a kid , am thirty one years old for the love of God , stop talking as if somebody can steal me without my consent!” Terdue said , Doowuse calmly clapped her hand .
“So good Terdue ,you’re now a man to talk back at my face ?” She smirked and watched the two speak to each other in silence . Mimidoo returned with two bottles of water on a saucer pan , Terdue picked one Dooshima picked the other .
“Thank you Mimi.” Dooshima said , she uncapped the water and poured half of the content into a tumbler. Mimidoo too her sit away from her mother .
“Ma I just had to come here today and explain myself to you , I don’t want to make myself a saint here today , but I should try to repair my reputation before you , a woman I’ve come to respect and love.
” Mrs Doowuse watched as Dooshima spoke , with a placid deadpan face. “I was at my lowest when your son came around , I’m not a wayward lady as Amos portrayed me .

I am actually from a decent home, I had a fallen out with my parents and siblings because of my pregnancy , just when I was about to go to law school ,that’s why I here in Lessel .” Dooshima said gripping the tumbler tightly in her arms .
“I asked Terdue here to check with you if you would be okay to have a single mother as your daughter in-law, he said to me he had talked to you and you were fine with that .” Dooshima said and took a little sip of water before replacing the cup on the table .
“I had never done any of the picture thing , my parents would be so disappointed if that got out there , I had to do it for the love I have for your son , he asked for it , and then I stopped sending him any more of such picture a more than a year ago , it leaked from him , if you can have a word with Amos’s mother you’ll ascertain the truth about my supposed relationship with her son …” Dooshima said .
“Are you pushing all the blames to my son ?” She Doowuse asked .
“No mum she’s saying the truth , I kept her baby a secret , because I know how judgemental you can be , I wanted to tell you after our marriage because I know You’ll never want things done in a way different from what you want .” Terdue bellowed, his face so fiercely red with anger .
“Dooshima I’ve heard you , you seem like a good girl , from a good home , who had done so many mistakes , I’ll have a word with my son , and he would get back to you . The both of you should have told me that you have a child , I don’t just like the fact that you lied to me with your silence .”She said .

“I am sorry about that ma , it wasn’t my intention please forgive us .” Dooshima pleaded.
“It’s okay Dooshima , I was reading upstairs I’ve to go back to my studies .
“Doowuse Chortled ,then made her way to her studies , she was to present a paper at a seminar at the Benue State University the next weekend.
“Dooshima don’t worry I’ll talk to mummy , I was also a victim of Amos long ago , we could sue him in a joint case , who knows the number of women he had done same thing to ?” Mimidoo asked .
“Well Mimidoo as much I would have loved to have that scum bag rotting in jail , I’m indebted to his mother, for the past six years, she’s been like a mother to me , I wouldn’t want to cause her trouble .”Dooshima said , Mimidoo nodded .
“Well my case happened over ten years ago , no need to pull it out , I don’t have evidence to sue him in court , or else I’ll would have dragged him to the ground .”Mimidoo said .

Terdue and Mimidoo saw Dooshima to the main road where she got a motorcycle that dropped her off at home .
Simon had gone up and down , looking for assistance to free Ejembi from the court , the case dragged for four months, he had called Agada who told him he couldn’t help , because he himself was struggling to find his feet , he sold lands he had acquired, the lawyers were being greedy and charging so much fees to represent Ejembi in court .
Agadagba rose up in one voice , they got the best lawyers, to fight against Simon and his son in the court of law , the solidarity was terrifying .
Ogwuche had recovered from the spine bending beating he had received trying to defend his father , he was in court for the trial of his elder brother . The mumbling and side talking was at a ear popping level , then the judge walked into the court .
“All rise .” The clerk called , all the mumblings and side talking seized , the lawyers representing all cases lined the hall neatly dressed in black suits , white shirt , a colonial style necktie, brownish white coloured Wigs with their black robes .

“My Lordship we have only one case today , Case number one between Ejembi Simon Ogar and the Agadagba area Council , in the murder of Peter Okwoli and subsequent attempted murder of Ojile Johnson ,
Ajiibo Micheal , and Eganta Boniface , who were fatally shot and are still recuperating in different hospitals around the country .” The clerk said , Ejembi’s siblings were sitting with the witnesses that had poured into the court .
The judge was sitting on the bench , exabits including the revolver Ejembi had used was before him , he kept scanning through the evidences before him , he raised his face up to the court , pushed his glasses up his nostrils.
“Can the final defence counsel to the defendant rise up to present their case ?” The judge said and returned his face to the desk before him .
A light complexion lawyer , standing at six feet tall , with his robe that gave him a look of a tribal warrior than a lawyer stood up and peered into the files poured in front of him .
“Your Lordship I am Barrister A.M Onwuku from the A.M Onwuku chambers, I am being assisted by colleagues, Barrister Joyce Iji, Christopher Eje and Philemon Okpene.
