“Hey Terdue why is your face looking like rainstorm?” Dooshima asked Terdue , when a motorcyclist dropped him off in front of Dooshima’s apartment. He tried to wear a smile .
“Oh my car has an issue am fixing it up now .” Terdue lied . “Can I stay here with you for some days ?” He asked , Dooshima asked .
“Why not ? you know my place is your place .” Dooshima said . “Have you had something to eat?”
“No I’m not hungry , where is Shiana ?” He asked yawning.
“She’s with Mama old Soldier, you’re yawning and refusing to eat ? What’s wrong with you ?” She asked .
“Dooshima I’ve a lot on my mind . I don’t have appetite.” He said , loosening the tie around his neck , he pulled the suit and threw it on the bed .

“No you cannot do that in my house .”Dooshima said picking his suit from the bed and hung it inside the wardrobe.
She moved her glass table close to the bed and served a portion of Ogbornor soup , with Ugwu leaves she had prepared , with plenty of goat meat and stuck fish , she had taken some to Mama Amos that afternoon with Semo.
“Hmmmmmn the sweet aroma of your food has cured my appetite , I just want to eat the whole plate right now .”He said while washing his hand , a soft smile spread across Dooshima’s face .
“Be hyping me , Just don’t worry I know I am a bad cook.”Dooshima said Terdue disagreed.
“Dooshima you cook so well , sometimes I find it hard to believe you’re an Ajebota .” Terdue said , they laughed loudly . “Have you seen that bastard today ?” Terdue asked , Dooshima shook her head .

“He’s not come home for two days now , I don’t even think about him.” Dooshima said , Terdue nodded and continued swallowing the Eba and soup .
“That guy is a snake , with the things I did for that bastard , he had the courage to stab me in the back .” Terdue said pulling a bone from his mouth .
“Whenever he needed money he would call me , today his mum needs money for this tomorrow she needs money for this , I give him money , over one ! Millon naira as gift .” Dooshima broke into laughter .
“You actually think Amos gives the money to his mother ?”Dooshima asked Terdue, he looked at her quizzically.
“Why not ?” He said .
“I can tell you with my full chest that he uses whatever money you give him for drugs and alcohol, he can never give it to his mother .

” Dooshima said , Terdue was quiet, wondering how stupid he had been , he began to wonder where he got all the money he used to flirt about town , and live lavishly even when he had no work .
Shiana ran into the room when Terdue was almost finishing his food .”Uncle Terdue how are you doing ?” She asked her mother’s fiance . “Where is your car? I didn’t see it outside ?” She enquired .
“Wow detective Shiana my car is bad and I left it in the mechanic workshop I’ll get it tomorrow .” He lied to Shiana . “Come and eat with me ?” He invited her ,she shook her head .
“Naaa I don’t like that soup , it’s too sticky and slimy .” Shiana said .”I’ll pass , what about about the bigger car if the small one is bad ?” Shiana asked .
“Shiana leave uncle Terdue to eat , take your books out and do your assignment, then bring it to me to cross check your answers before …” Shiana had already grabbed her bag .

“Mummy I already did my assignment , you know I can never fail my assignments, I would appreciate it if you would stop cross checking it , I don’t ever fail .” Shiana said .
“Shut up Mrs Sabinus , let me check , if you fail anyone , you’ll kneel down here until your knees turn to meat .” She threatened but the girl stood close to her as she supervised the work, Dooshima was impressed .
“Mummy I told you , I always get it right ?” Shiana said giggling .
“Take this money go and buy your favourite yoghurt .”Terdue said extending a new one thousand naira note to Shiana , Dooshima collected the money from her and ask her to go and watch cartoon .
Mrs Doowuse kept calling her son’s number , he kept bouncing ,and finally turned off his phone , , his urge was dead, he hadn’t made any move for sex, Dooshima wondered if he was okay , but she didn’t push to enquire , he put his arm around her neck as she lay her head on his chest , his eyes didn’t see one sleep all night , at about eleven P.M he heard Amos ride Rubber Rubber motorcycle into the compound , Terdue was familiar with the sound of his motorcycle.
The metal door of his mother’s flat rattled as he pushed it open , the whole night was dead quiet so the sound travelled a thousand miles away , Dooshima didn’t shake .
