“Dooshima this is not a question about you crying. Ogwuche isnt dead. We don’t know what’s happening there. His uncle has told you that he would go home to check what’s happening.” Dooshima said her arms wrapped around Dooshima.
Dooshima palms covered her face, as the hot streams of tears flowed down her arms. “But why would Ogwuche do this to me? ” she asked a rhetorically. “I went against my family for Ogwuche. He promised me that he would stay by me. And love me.
for two weeks now I’ve been calling Ogwuche, his phone would ring, but he wouldn’t take my call or try to call me back.” Dooshima blowed the mucus from her nose with a white handkerchief.
“Dooshima many things might have happened. Wait for his uncle to go to their village and check what’s happening there.” Dooshima’s head buried in her palms as Mimidoo.

“I wish I listened to my mum, I wished I listened to you.” Dooshima blurted. “I never knew it could turn this way. My siblings hate me. They all hate me they don’t want to see me.
The members of the church hate me. I cannot walk on the street of Gboko, it’s true I am a bad and selfish person. I cared only about my feelings…”
“Stop it Dooshima, Jesus asked them anyone among you without sin should cast the first stone, none could. We’ve all sinned and come short of the glory of God. ” She tried to console her friend.
“I ruined my less, just one night of sex it destroyed everything Mimidoo. I feel used Ogwuche used me. I thought I saw love in his eyes. It was all lies.” She said sobbing.
“Dooshima please… ” Mimidoo paused to let Dooshima take a call on her phone.
“Hello mummy how are you doing? ” Dooshima tried to sound strong and okay.

“Dooshima why are you sounding down? ” Mrs Seember asked her daughter.
“Mummy I’m fine how are you doing? how is dad? hope he’s getting better?” She asked.
“My daughter we are hoping on God, your dad isn’t okay, he’s been going in an out of coma for days , we are just praying and having faith that he would survive. ” She said. ” How is Ogwuche hope he’s taking good care of you? ” Seember asked her daughter.
“Yes mummy we are fine. I am sorry mummy for putting the family through trauma.” Dooshima begged.
“Come on baby I hope you’re not still beating yourself? mistakes are made for us to learn. God had a reason for this to happen the Bible says in all things give thanks.” Mrs Seember said.
“Stop crying my daughter. I told Annabel to transfer one million naira into your account, has she done that? ” Seember asked.
“She’s yet to, maybe she’s busy with work. ” Dooshima said.

“Which work, how many minutes does it take her to make transfer to your account. I’ll call her now. Hope she’s checking on you? ” Seember asked her daughter.
“Yes mummy. ” Dooshima lied, Mimidoo felt like eating her alive.
“Be fine Dooshima I love you sweetheart.” Seember said before she hung up.
“Why did you tell her that Annabel has been checking on you? That your sister her jealousy will kill her one day. Since your parents left Nigeria she has not thought to call your phone.”
Mimidoo lamented. “Even if your dad had died because of your mistake does it mean that she will never forgive you? Somebody I know who used to abort pregnancies back to back.” Mimidoo lamented.
“Mimidoo am fine. I don’t want my mother to to add this to her problems. I brought this upon myself, I’ll take care of myself.” She said.

“Dooshima I have to start going now. I will be going to work soon.” Mimidoo said , Dooshima got up from couch, she was dressed in a chiffon maternity gown. ” where are you going? ” Mimidoo asked.
“I want to see you off, is that not obvious? ” Dooshima said.
“No stay back with your big stomach I don’t want to stress you and Shania.” Mimidoo teased, Dooshima laughed.
“You’ve already helped me to name the unborn baby? ” Dooshima asked.
“Yes na I’ll be her good mother.” Mimidoo said, Dooshima giggled for a moment forgetting her pain. The two ladies walked sibe by side discussing as they made their way towards the main road, where she would get Okada.
Some boys who were sitting in front of a drinking joint , taking Shekpe Jin and cigarettes, glued their eyes on Dooshima.
“That girl looks sweet , I will like to bang her.” One of the boys said the others laughed.
“Which one is it the curvy one? ” One of the boys asked.

“No that slim chocolate coloured one. I want to give it to her so hurt that she’ll cry my name.” He continued.
“Mumu can’t you see that she’s pregnant? ” the second guy asked.
“Does she have vagina? ” He asked his friend.
“You’re a goat. You better leave that girl alone.She’s pregnant.” He warned his friend.
“Shut up Ngutor. if she has Toto I’ll strife her. Don’t come and do holy here oh. Reverend father is in the church. You’re a sinner man like me. if I womanize and you smoke we are all the same.” He said Ngutor sealed his mouth.
Dooshima had seen Mimidoo to the road, she waited for her until she got a motorcycle. Dooshima turned back towards the house. When she got near the drinking joint, she tried to hasten up her footsteps, she didn’t like the way the men were looking at her and were mumbling.

“Hey Kwase stop! ” the muscular pervert said. Dooshima was walking so fast almost breaking into a run. The guy ran to Dooshima’s front and double crossed her.
“Did you not hear me call you ? ” He barked at Dooshima, he she couldn’t hide her fear as she began to tremble. The thug had seized her arm.
“Please leave my hand alone.” Dooshima begged trembling.
