“Up Nepa! ” The kids screamed. Ogar got up on his feet.
“Papa tomorrow Ogwuche will be going back to Gboko I have to go and see my friend. ” He said.
“This night? can’t it wait till tomorrow? ” Papa Onoja asked Ogar. It was already ten P. M when they finished their meeting.
“No papa am safe in this local government. No body can harm me. ” He boasted. The kids man shook hands with Ogwuche and Ogar.
“Please you people should stay in peace and love.” The old man admonished father and son. He got up on his feet shook both men before making his way to his house.
Ogar drove out of the compound his Toyota Hilux truck roaring like an injured Jaguar.

Ogbene cleared the tables and plates and took them into the kitchen to wash.
“Ogwuche are you okay? ” Ene asked sitting next to her son on his bed, Ogwuche was just rolling from one side of the bed to the other. “Ogwuche what’s wrong? ” She asked.
He couldn’t even tell what was wrong with him. He just knew something was wrong with his body. “Mama I don’t know, maybe it’s just food poisoning.” Ogwuche said.
“Jesus Ogwuche do you mean I can poison you? ” She asked with disappointment hanging on her face. “How can I hurt my pride? ” she asked.
“Mama food poisoning doesn’t mean poison was put in my food internationally to kill me. But that a harmful substances might have made a way into my food. ” He said his mother nodded in understanding.

“Can we walk to the nearby health center? ” she asked. “they may have something to help with your pain?” she asked but Ogwuche refused.
“I am fine. I will be okay.” He said.
Ogar arrived at his friend Oji’s compound. He drank some bottles of beer with the man. Then a brown envelope was produced. “Count it Oji it’s five hundred thousand naira there. Plus the five hundred thousand you’re owing me it’s one million.”
The gourmandizing touched his thumbs to his lips to make it easy for him to count the money. He stopped talking he counted four hundred and ninety nine thousand naira.
“Ogar one thousand is missing add it. ” Ogar removed the money from his pocket and gave to his friend who smiled.
“Well that’s your money. Have you informed her? ” He asked Oji who laughed.
“Inform her for what? I told her, she was saying she would rather die. I want her to really die oh in this difficult times? me turn down five hundred thousand naira? ” He rolled his hand over his head. “God forbid. ” The both men continued with their bottles of Legend.

“Onyabehi my sweet heart please come here oh! ” Oji called the girl came to meet her father and his friend at the sitting room.
“Go and pack your things, you’re going to stay with my friend, you’ll be his son’s wife.” The young girl stood watching her father speechless. ” See Ogar has paid your bride price here. ” Oji said to his daughter.
“But papa I love Peter. He has done the introduction, he’s saving for our marriage . ” She said crying . Arms folded over her breast.
“Leave that boy from now to ten years he’ll never have money. See those his siblings he’s seeing through school? you’ll suffer my daughter.
Ogwuche is a fine gentleman, a medical doctor, he will take care of you. Please go and carry your bag and let’s me escort you to his house.” He said, The twenty three years old charming damsel refused to move.
“Are you deaf!” Oji yelled with his drum sized stomach.
“Comfort come and warn your daughter! Never to joke with me Onya!Never you! Do you know how I got the money to send you to Collage of Education until you finished? I’ve so much debts hanging over my neck? ”

the startled girl ran into her room, she gathered her things , tears dripping from her eyes. Her mother couldn’t say a word as her daughter was being sold in marriage, without carrying out the proper marriage rites.
They drove back to Agadagba with the crying lady at the back seat of the truck, they got to Ogar’s compound at eleven thirty P. M .
Oji helped his daughter lift her boss. Ogar knocked on the door. Ogwuche was in pain, when the Dissiness and weakness subsided, a strong urge to make love to a woman came on him. He had never felt such urge in his life.
“Ogwuche it’s me please open the door? ” The locks inside the house began to move and soon Ogwuche opened the door. Ogar stepped in with a woman, a girl Ogwuche recognised he was confused. “Pappa what’s she doing? ” He asked.
“She’s your wife Ogwuche! ” His jaw dropped, his mouth were left open.
“Papa you said what? ” Ogwuche asked astounded.
“I said she’s your wife. ” He repeated.

“Get out of my room! ” Ogwuche yelled pushing the girl out of his room. “Get out papa! ” He yelled the whole house woke up.. Ejembi and his mother with all their siblings came to see the drama unfolding. Oji had gone back to the car he didn’t want the drama, he knew that Ogar didn’t want his daughter to marry the Tiv girl he had impregnated.
“This is my house! my house Ogwuche! my rules ! I said she’ll sleep in the house. ” He came closer to Ogwuche and whispered. “If you don’t let it happen you’ll soon have heart attack.” He said laughing as he left his confused wife and children as he went back to take Oji back to his house.
Ogwuche locked the door when his mother and siblings had gone back into their rooms. “Just sleep there. By that side of the bed don’t come near me. ” He warned her as he continued groaning in pains he prayed that the pains and urge would stop but his prayers didn’t not help.
