CHAPTER 17

Dooshima was still in bed at nine A. M, when her phone began to buzz, she stretched her hand to the headboard and cut the call off. She grumbled and returned to her sweet sleep. She had chatted with Ogwuche till about three A. M the previous night, but the phone began to buzz, she picked up the fall without checking who it was who was calling.
“Hello who is this? ” Dooshima growled angrily, with a grumpy sleepy voice.
“Come Dooshima don’t tell me you’re still sleeping? ” Annabel said to her sister over the phone.
“Yeah I am still sleeping. Why are you calling me so early? ” She grumbled eyes still tightly shut, half awake half asleep.
“It’s Nine A. M is mum not at home ? why would she allow you remain in bed? ” Annabel asked. She knew her mum wouldn’t let them remain in bed past seven A. M, She didn’t know to what extent Dooshima’s and her mother’s relationship had degenerated to.
“Well mummy travelled to Abuja yesterday morning, she and dad will be going to New York for medical check up. ” Dooshima said . “You didn’t call me to talk about mum right? ” Dooshima asked .

“Not are all, what’s today’s day? ” Annabel asked Dooshima.
“Today day is Tuesday. ” Dooshima replied quizzically
“I mean the date? ” Annabel replied.
“Well today is fifth of August, so what about that? ” Dooshima asked .
“Today is your birthday?” Annabel said, Dooshima let out a cry of surprise and jumped out of bed, she had a habit of forgetting her birthdays, and other important dates.
“Happy twenty fourth birthday my sweetest and bestest sister in the whole wide world, I love hii sweet heart I pray that God gives you many happy and prosperous years In the coming future. ” Dooshima blushed, Her skin became pink.
“Thank you sweet heart. I totally forgot, am so grateful, I didn’t even make any post on Facebook.” Dooshima said as she scanned through her Facebook page, to see the thousands of messages that had been showered on her page.

She thanked Annabel then hung up the call. in a few minutes later her phone began to buzz again .
“Hello babe happy birthday, I wish you long life joy, peace and prosperity. ” Mimidoo said. “I hope you will go and get cake so we can do a small party at your house? ” Mimidoo said.
“No need only party . Na Typar, you know am no party kind of a person.” Dooshima chuckled. “Babe I even forgot today was my birthday it was Annabel who woke me up with the news. “Dooshima said walking down stairs to the kitchen.
” I want us to hang out at Charito babe. I need to spoil you for a bit.”Mimidoo said. “Let’s go and eat some chicken wings and and friend rice. ” Mimidoo said
“Okay babe by what time? ” Dooshima asked
“By five P. M when I get back from work would that be okay for you?” she asked .

“Yeah very fine by me, Let us see in the evening. ” Dooshima said as always hang up the call. the maids had already placed a saucer of bread and fried egg, with tins of milk and other beverages. Dooshima had a breakfast of egg and bread with tea.
“Hello babe am outside the house. ” Ogwuche said, can come down to see me for a minute? ” He asked Dooshima couldn’t believe her ears, she dressed in a royal blue Crepe gown and went to see Ogwuche.
“Happy birthday babe. ” Ogwuche said as he handed over boquet of flower and embraced her. “Happy birthday baby.”he said for the second time.
” Thank you babe, am so grateful for this beautiful flowers.”Dooshima said as she sniffed the sweet scent of rne flower. “I thought you had forgotten my birthday, like I did.” Dooshima said still in his embrace, Ogwuche’s arms were wrapped around her wait.
“Well babe I couldn’t forget your birthday for anything in the world, I took off from work, I told them I was sick. ” He said laughing.

“You did that just for me? ” Dooshima asked and he nodded. “Right now I feel like my head is about to explode. ” Dooshima chortled, her face lighted up with joy.
Ogwuche planted a soft kiss on her lips. “I want to take you out, let’s go to Makurdi, Gboko is too dry to celebrate a queen like you. ” Ogwuche said, Dooshima laughed.
“Don’t flatter to me. Just sit down here. ” She pointed to the driver seat of the black Land Cruiser. let me go and get my shoes and my bag.
” She pecked him on the cheek, he blushed, he would have laminated the side of his face so he could keep the memory forever.
Dooshima had changed into a golden colloured crepe gown, that had a beautiful embroidery design stitched from the burst to the waist, a matching golden high heels shoe, that made her become same height as Ogwuche, with a small golden purse, her full black afro hair, was tied behind her back .

“Why are you staring at me that way? ” Dooshima asked with a smile plastered on her lips .
“Wow Lillian you were beautifully and exceptionally made , I cannot believe that such a beautiful angel is my woman.
” He rushed to the passenger front seat. “Baby get in, allow me treat you like a queen that you are. ” Ogwuche said Dooshima just giggled.
“Treat her well so no else would ever attract her attention.” She said with a big grin on her face.
“I’ll baby I will. ” He promised . They drove out of Gboko in less than two hours they were in Makurdi. They visited the shopping malls at Gboko, Ogwuche bought clothes and shoes worth three hundred thousand naira for his woman.
They spent over a hundred thousand for wines and food. After spending two hours in the cinema. Ogwuche’s arms were around Dooshima’s shoulder, they walked together to a winery in the same building with the cinema, and got bottles of wines , Ogwuche got a bottle of Smirnoff Ice.

They were in the car drinking, Dooshima loved the taste of the red wine it tasted like grape fruit her dad had brought back from America.
“This is alcoholic? ” Ogwuche nodded,Dooshima said as she collected the bottle of Smirnoff ice and raised it up close to her face. “Can I taste it? ” Dooshima asked and Ogwuche nodded.
