CHAPTER 14

“Thank you sir , God bless you sir .” Ogwuche said , with wide eyes . He had never been gifted such an amount in his eternity .
“We would have met in a better circumstances to discuss better , but then I am a very busy man , I will be flying to Abuja this afternoon and from there to New York for the United Nations legal summit .
Be good to my daughter .” He said before entering the SUV that was waiting for him , the passenger door was held open by his police escort , the door was shut and he drove straight for Abuja .
“Thank you babe for introducing me to your dad .” He said . Mimidoo was leaving the church premises with other members of the choirs, she saw Dooshima and Ogwuche she waved at him .
“Hey Dr Ogwuche how are you doing ?” She said “Hi Dooshima.” she said and continued with her friends.
“You have to go and apologise to her Lillian .” Ogwuche said to Dooshima .

“But why would I do that ?” She asked , she didn’t see any need , if Mimidoo didn’t want her friendship because she put her in her place , then so be it .
“You’re a Christian, same sin that would take a drunker to hell , would take you to hell for malice , for five months the both of you have not been talking.” He said .
“Are you taking her side now ?” Dooshima asked.
“No I always on your side , but I don’t want to be the reason why your friendship from childhood crashes .” Ogwuche pleaded , Dooshima remained mute and quiet , he ran to Mimidoo.
“Please can you please wait , I want to talk to you ?”He excused her from the crowd , she handed the broken shoes she was holding to one of her choir member.
“What is it you want to say Doctor?” Mimidoo asked .
“Actually it isn’t me , it’s Dooshima she has something to say to you .” He said before stepping away, leaving the two friend alone in the busy car park , Dooshima’s eyes remain on her high heels shoes, the diamond shaped transparent stones on it .

“What do you want to say ?” Mimidoo asked staring at Dooshima. she held her right elbow with her left hand , playing with the heels of her shoes .
“Am sorry for talking to you rudely Mimidoo , I know you were looking out for me , I love Ogwuche, he’s a nice guy .” Dooshima said ,still staring at her leg.
“Well I had forgiven you long ago, I spoke with Dr. Ogwuche a while ago , I just want you to be happy , I told you I had experiences at Otukpo it wasn’t really nice , I was discriminated against by his parents and relatives . May God forgive me , I had to abort my baby .” She said .
“I pray you and Ogwuche end well, as for me if the man isn’t TIV we cannot be anything other than just friends.” She said .
“Thank you Mimidoo forgive me .” the friends embraced each other .
“Dooshima where have you been ? mummy has been looking for you all over the place .” Her younger brother said impatiently before running away with is friend.

“I’ve to go guys before mum goes berserk on me .” She pecked Mimidoo on the cheek ,kissed her palm and shook Ogwuche. “That’s a kiss for you .” Mimidoo and Ogwuche laughed , Dooshima ran on her high heels and joined her mum and siblings in the SUV .
“Can I drop you off ?” Ogwuche asked Mimidoo ,she accepted his offer , Ogwuche had driven down in his uncle’s Black Mercedes Benz saloon car. He dropped her off at the junction leading to her home before he reversed and headed back into town .
At the Otukpo High court , Simon was led into the courtroom with handcuffs. Mr Agada had called his eldest son from his first marriage ,who was a lawyer under the pastor’s chamber, Gamadi Chambers in Makurdi to represent his uncle in court .
barrister Adam had begged the judge for an out of court settlement, since the defendant and the plaintiff were people who had history . Over a million naira was spent on Okpe’s leg , before any discussion when the judge gave the family time for settlement, Ogar was made to pay back the medical bills .
He had to pay Okpe five million naira for the case to be withdrawn from court , he risked going to prison and spending ten to twenty years for assualt and bodily harm .

And it was agreed that Ogar would stay away from Okpe’s land , and never ask him for a refund of the initial five hundred thousand naira. Agada contributed three million naira to help his brother offset his debt .
“I am tired of playing the big brother rule. This is the last time I’m going to interfere in anything that concerns Ogar here .” Agada said when they had a family meeting .
“If I had not taken Ogwuche out of this village , he would have turned out like his siblings, you have eight children! no one you could train through the university!”
Agada barked at his younger brother , who was sitting in the midst of his siblings and step siblings, old uncles and aunts speechless and crestfallen.
“Shame on you ! nobody should ever call me to come and help him! because this man is never going to change .” He hissed .
“Am sorry brother I won’t do anything like that , it was the devil .” Ogar bawled . “My family forgive me , I have done wrong , I’ve brought shame on you all , forgive me I won’t repeat it again .”
He begged they kept mumbling , nobody believe a pig could stay out of dirty water . they kept mumbling until the end of the meeting .
