But one night a gang of Fulani herders stormed the farms around Adekpo , with thousands of cows and destroyed the whole farms, not just Okpe’s farm . The villagers were sacked from the village , as the herders spent weeks killing and maiming unfortunate villagers .
Okpe’s farm hand was unlucky , he lost his life,his wife ,and children in the dastardly attack , Okpe was lucky not to have slept in his farm house on that fateful day , he too would have been dead .
He had continued to pay the debt to his friend , for two years , Ogar wanted his money in full , but Okpe couldn’t afford it , he paid the sum of five hundred thousand naira thrice , the remaining five hundred thousand naira was to be paid after the farming season

. After the agreement they had at the clan head palace . But Ogar had stopped him from entering his far , except he paid up the whole sum.
The logger had heard the continuous frantic cry of two women though far away in the forest , he turned off his sawing machine to be sure of what he heard , the cry continued. He trusted through the forest with the heavy mechanical sew , the voice kept getting louder , he burst into the open field from the thick and dark underbrush of the canopies of African Locust Bean tree.
“Julie what is it ?” He called as he saw his niece and cousin sister covered in blood .
“My husband oh , my husband oh! Ogar shot him!” she was wailing , carrying her hands on her head ,like a heavy log of wood .
“Why would he shoot him? Is he mad ?” He asked running after the two women , he found Okpe rolling on the grass , he had crumbled the whole grace around him ,the grasses were covered with blood .

“Ogar has killed me oh! Ahh Ogar has killed me oh!” Okpe cried , too weak to get up on his own .
“Mary give me that wrapper .” he ordered his niece , he brought the wrapper she had used as rag to carry her basin with cassava stems that had been cut and ready for planting .
He tore the wrapper like a long rope , with which he used to tie the leg , Okpe had been shot to stop the bleeding , the next problem was how to lift the giant man up , he lay on the ground , he was six feet tall, with broad shoulders and thick calves and biceps .
“Okpe get up .” He said to his in-law as his wife and daughter helped him up . The logger carried him on his back , as they made the one hour journey on foot back to Ohimini town .
Ogar got home around twelve A.M got out his pack of Saint Morris cigarette,he sat outside his Bungalow , it had brown paint on the walls and milk coloured aluminium roofing sheets , he sat on his special wooden chair , smoking stick after stick of cigarettes, calmly as though he wasn’t the one who had almost caused a man his life .

Two hours later, police men from the Ohimini Police Division arrived in their Hilux truck , Ejembi who was sitting outside the house smoking marijuana and drinking a few bottles of beer with his friends took to his heels when he saw the police men , his friends froze where they were , they dropped their wraps of marijuana on the ground and stepped on it to extinguish the fire on,the police men ignored the insignificant charlatans and no gooders , as they went after the big fish .
“Ogar you’re under arrest .” The police Inspector said to Ogar, he didn’t argue with them, he poured one more shut of his dry gin into his mouth before he got up and pushed forward his hands so they could handcuff him .
The police men didn’t need to handcuff him , Ogar was already a regular face in their station . “You can you ever stay a month without getting into trouble with the police ?” The Inspector asked him , he didn’t mutter a word . “Where is your handgun ?” He asked , Ogar refused to talk .
He ordered his men to search the whole house . After an hour search they found the gun and cartridges in a room where his wife stored her grains she sold at the market .

“I don’t know why some people will never grow matured , how can a man of your age will be behaving like a tout?” The DPO yelled at Ogar , when they arrived at the station .
“If you’re not here this this week it will be your son! what’s wrong with you Simon!” The DPO yelled,Ogar was silent like a mute owl .
“I’m am going to make sure that you face your crime to the full extent of the law! you’re a very stupid man!” He cussed Ogar . “You’ll spend that money you think you have that you’re going about looking for trouble!” He yelled .
“Sergeant come and take this stupid man out of my office .” Ogar was quiet as a lamb , he was asked to take off his trousers and shirt , in his singlet and boxers he was thrown into a cell what was smelling of sweat and heat ,

that would have made it the sixth time he was being locked behind the walls of that cell. Call fight and Ogar would answer you , he fought his step brothers , his son and anyone who dared got in his way . He was a brave man and a warrior .
