CHAPTER 97
I was sitting on my bed giving up all hopes because Arianna is not letting go of Mason.
Tyler is miserable, Mason is more miserable putting up with his parents while I’m also miserable.
How can one person make 3 people miserable at the same time.
My thoughts were distracted when my phone rang.
A smile was plastered on my face as I saw it was Mason.
“Let’s me at my favorite place?”
Before I could respond he ended the call.
Something was off.
“I just hope it’s not what I’m thinking”
I took a quick shower as I wore a simple fly dress and put on my black sandals.
I entered the cab waiting outside as he took me to my destination.
Finally I saw Mason staring at the city below him.
When I saw him a smile lifted my face.
I ran and hugged him tight.
I didn’t feel his arm around me as usual , so I broke the hug and looked at him .
“Is anything wrong?”
From the look on his face I knew where this was going.
“Avery…
I shaked my head, moving two steps back.
“I’m sorry Avery.
I’m really sorry but let’s just stop”.
“Mason no ok try harder to change Arianna’s mind.
I still have a week left before your engagement”.
“My engagement is in two days, Avery”.
It came as a shock to me.
“What, I thought…
“Yeah , me too, my parents shifted the date closer and after the engagement the wedding is starting immediately”.
I shaked my head vigorously
“It can’t be” tears falling down from my eyes.
I looked at Mason as he was also crying.
“It’s useless Avery, this is our fate”.
I couldn’t say a word as I just cried.
Mason came to hug me tight as I cried.
“I can’t lose you again, not yet”.
“I’m sorry”.
“Why are you letting your parents decide for you?” I pushed him screaming at him.
“It’s your life not theirs “.
“You think I don’t want to run away from all this. You think I don’t want to be with you.
Avery, I’ve tried so many times but my dad knew my weakness.”
“And that’s you,” he said.
“You don’t know what my dad is capable of doing, sometimes I don’t even know who he is”.
“He found out that we were meeting, that’s why he pushed the date and I don’t want to tell you what he threatened to do if I don’t stop this meeting up with you”.
“All I’m doing is for your own good and for your protection”.
I was frustrated hearing that.
“I never asked for your protection”.
I could see how hurt Mason looked after hearing me say that.
He looked at me with so much pain in his eyes as he walked away leaving me all alone.
I knew I shouldn’t have said that but I was just angry.
As I ran to meet up with him he was gone.
I sat on the floor as I cried.
“I didn’t mean any of it , I’m sorry”
“I’m really sorry Mason”.
