You know you’re a single mother, it’s not going to be easy for you to get another man , just manage Terfa , his parents will always put him to order .” Dooshima couldn’t believe her ears .
“Mummy you mean because am a single mother I don’t have right to choose who I marry ? is being a single mother now a stigma that I cannot have a happy marriage ? mummy he slapped me , because I tried to know who he was talking to?” Dooshima asked Seember she couldn’t answer her question.
“I am not saying that what he did was right , but not all of every woman so fortunate to have pious husbands like your dad .” Seember said. “I am begging you don’t end this marriage , Terfa has learnt his lesson .” Seember begged , Dooshima was more confused than she had ever been ,Seember left her room two hours later after so much preaching .

The door creaked open and Shiana popped her head into Dooshima’s room .”Mummy can I come in ?” Shiana asked , she was wearing a pink gown , with a carton poster drawn on it , Dooshima sat up in bed .
“Why not baby come to your mama .” Shiana had been aery of her mother , she couldn’t understand the recent angry outburst whenever she tried to come close to her. “You can come into my room anytime baby , am sorry for being harsh this past few days .” Dooshima said .
Shiana crawled into her mother’s bed , and embraced her , she stared at the reddish scar on her mother’s face , she hugged Dooshima tightly .
“Mummy why do you have to go on with this marriage ?” The little girl asked . “He has started hitting yoy before your wedding , what would happen after the wedding?” She asked , Dooshima couldn’t answer her daughter’s question .
“Shiana everything will be alright , it was my mistake I forcibly dragged his phone from his hand.” Dooshima made an excuse .

“But mum is that enough reason for him to slap you?” Shiana asked . “Mummy I won’t come to live with you , I will stay with Grandpa and grandma , I don’t like him .” Shiana continued.
“Shhhhhht Shiana don’t say that ,it’s always been you and I together , wherever I go I take you with me , I love you more than anything in the world …”
Shiana wouldn’t let her mother land . “But why do you want to marry him , if you know he doesn’t like me ?” Shiana asked her mum in a whisper .
“Shiiiiiit!” Dooshima said putting her hands on her lips . “Don’t you say that , he loves you baby I’ll protect you .” Dooshima said , she hugged Shiana , and kissed her forehead. ”
You and I together against whatever would come .” Dooshima said .”Mummy can I sleep on the same bed with you tonight ?” Shiana asked . “Why not baby ? you can sleep in my bed anytime you want .” Dooshima said .

“Mummy today may be the last time , hold me tight , don’t let me go .” Shiana said , before she dozed off , Dooshima held her child in her arms , beads of tears dropped from her cheeks , her daughter lay sleeping in bed , she wept till late in the night .
Dooshima woke up late On Friday morning with a migraine headache , preparation had already started for wedding was at top gear, Mr Akase sent over three big cows , several pigs and goats , Chefs were brought in from Abuja and Makurdi to prepare many local and international delicacies.
Annabel and Mimidoo were also busy , running up and down , making sure everything went well .
At about four P.M on Friday evening, Mimidoo called Dooshima from the outside the house , were she was helping the caterers and church women to steam the meats that had been sliced , she informed Dooshima of a guest who had come to see her and Shiana ,
Dooshima hurriedly threw a kimono robe over her sleeveless Lycra gown , as she went about the massive house looking for Shiana around the house , she was with her grand mother , in the second floor , she had intentionally remained in bed all day , avoiding Terfa’s and his parents calls , she wished she had the gut to pull out of the marriage .

“Shiana we have a guest downstairs.” Dooshima said taking Shiana away from her . “Who is the guest ?” Seember asked her daughter.
“I don’t know mum I have to go now .” Dooshima said , Seember wore her easy wear shoe and followed behind her daughter , Dooshima saw the navy blue
BMW 428i Gran Coupe with a tinted glass , her heart began to pant , she wondered who was in it .
She was shocked to see Ogwuche , she almost collapsed to the ground , Shiana ran forward and embraced her dad , Ogwuche had been speaking with the little girl through Mimidoo and Annabel’s phone .
“Wow daddy you’re looking so amazingly handsome .” Shiana screamed ecstatically, most of the people around the carport, who had never seen Shiana’s dad,stretched their necks to see who he was .
Let”I’ve missed you so much daddy .” Dooshima folded her arms over her shoulders,her heart was trembling inside of her body , the passenger door of Ogwuche’s car opened she saw the smoothest leg of a woman, so flawless like it was baked with smooth dough, fair like a skin of a mixed race person, she was wearing a blue crepe gown with black embroidery around the hems

, Dooshima felt the pangs of jealousy stab her chest , Ogwuche was still bent over Shiana both enjoying the sunshine and bliss of a brief reunion, a grimace spread across her face .
“Hey Dooshima how are you doing ?” Ogwuche finally said with a smile when he looked up at Dooshima , she turned her face away from his , she couldn’t understand the electric current surging through her body .
Ogwuche was wearing a greyish blazers with blue and black stripes , a white crisply ironed shirt and a brand new white sneakers .
“Why do you have to come back here today ?” Dooshima asked staring at Ogwuche’s shoes , she couldn’t bear to look at his face , she would have a heart attack .”

What are you doing here ? Who is she ? and why did you have to bring her here ? to rub salt on my injuries!” Dooshima asked angrily , Mimidoo tried to hold her , Dooshima she pushed her hand away .
“I was trying to move on , then what did you do ? you came back to ruin everything for me , now you’re bringing your girlfriend to show off , yes Dooshima you rejected me , I got a girl prettier than you isn’t that it ?” Dooshima asked her voice shaking.
Ogwuche was speechless he couldn’t bring up words to explain to her , the moment he saw the scar on her face , he couldn’t understand the anger building on his chest . “Who did that to you ?” Ogwuche asked , trying to touch Dooshima’s face , she moved away . “Don’t you patronise me! I’m fine I can take care of myself , answer my question why did you bring her here ?” she asked .
